Registry & Genetics

Accurate records. Confident genetic decisions.

Total Herd Enrollment, DNA verification and EPDs work together to give Canadian Simmental breeders defensible performance data.

Program

Total Herd Enrollment

Whole-herd reporting keeps contemporary groups complete and improves EPD accuracy. Enrolled herds report every cow every year.

Program

EPDs, in plain language

Expected Progeny Differences compare an animal's genetic merit. Accuracy grows as more data on the animal and relatives is reported.

Program

DNA submission

Parentage verification is standard for AI and ET progeny. Genomic profiling adds density to EPD predictions on young animals.

Workflow

Four steps from calf to certificate.

  1. 01
    Enroll or update membership
Ensure membership is current before submitting registrations or transfers.
  2. 02
    Report performance data
THE herds report all cows annually. Non-THE members submit individual records.
  3. 03
    Collect and submit DNA
Use approved hair or blood collection kits and follow submission instructions.
  4. 04
    Register or transfer
Submit online or by form. CSA staff review and issue certificates.
